Radcliff News

School-wide Spirit Days: Mrs. Abtahi - Balas has set up a Spirit Day schedule for the remainder of the school year.  Spirit Days will be every other Friday, and all grades are encouraged to participate.  April 4 is Superhero Day, April 25 is Backward Day, May 9 is Crazy Hat or Hair Day and May 23 is Beach Day!  Let's show some Radcliff spirit.

After School Program: Applications for the RAP 2014-2015 school year will be going home with students in the next week.  If you are interested in enrolling your child, please return the paperwork in a timely manner to room A10.

Preparing for Testing:  Our students will no longer take CST exams (CA standards tests), but will take Common Core assessments this spring.  The testing window is from April 7th - May 16th.  The assessments will be on the computer and will require students to explain their answers.  Teachers are learning about the new changes and students are beginning to have experiences with the new focus.  Our kinder students are getting used to new way of teaching and learning.  Our older students will have more difficulty with the transition.  Only 3rd - 5th grade students will test this year.  Unfortunately, we will not get any results or feedback on how our students perform this year.

ESL Classes: Adult education continues to offer English classes here on campus for our families and others in the community.  If you are interested in participating in these classes, please enroll at the district office (the old hospital) and take your classes here.  For more information, please call 831-786-2160.

Lunch Services: Many of the students are not eating their school lunches.  Often they go to waste and food must be thrown out.  Please encourage your children to eat their school lunch or send them to a lunch from home.  Monthly menus are available in the cafeteria and school office.

The Parking Lot

Student safety is one of our primary concerns.  Vehicles are not allowed to stop for student drop-off or pick-up in the staff parking lot.  Don't forget to always be patient with our traffic staff and each other.  Please avoid texting or cell phone use while driving through the parking lot or in the school zone.
